In RAD, the units moved from a Public Housing program to a Section 8 platform with a long-term contract that by law must be renewed. This will ensure that the units remain permanently affordable to low-income households.

Under RAD, public housing tenants were transferred into the Project Based Section 8 program. They continue to pay 30 percent of their income toward rent, and they retain the same basic rights they previously had in the public housing program.

RAD has allowed MHACY to leverage public and private debt and equity to reinvest in housing portfolio and make much needed repairs. MHACY has retained control, and will continue to manage the properties.
