A. Communication with Residents

MHACY is committed to open communication with its residents in order to create a positive living and working environment for all. The Authority seeks to keep the resident community aware of upcoming events of interest by noting them on the MHACY calendar, which is available by clicking here.

Meetings of the monthly Board of Commissioners are open to residents and the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend. The Board usually meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month.

Authority Managers regularly meet with members of MHACY’s Resident Council. The Council is comprised of residents who work in partnership with the Housing Managers to solve individual, family, and neighborhood problems. Resident Council members are also available to provide information to residents about their rights, privileges and responsibilities.

Resident Councils receive money for tenant participation activities. At the discretion of the council, tenant participation funds may be used to support training activities, meetings and other related activities such as a neighborhood cleanup, a crime watch, and/or outreach programs.

Officers of the Resident Councils sit on the Resident Advisory Board. The role of the Resident Advisory Board (RAB) is to assist MHACY in developing its Annual Plan and/or in making any significant amendments or modifications to the Plan.

MHACY distributes a Resident Newsletter periodically. The Newsletter includes information about a wide variety of issues, including seasonal tips, updates on redevelopment work, and new policy initiatives. You can access the most recent copy of the Resident Newsletter & archives by clicking here.
